Sadler Marks National Health Center Week

100+ Years of Care – Still Our Community’s Best-Kept Secret

National Health Center Week

CARLISLE, Pa. (Aug. 4, 2025) – Sadler Health Center’s story began more than 100 years ago in Carlisle. Today, it continues to grow – meeting the evolving health care needs of individuals and families across Cumberland and Perry counties. Yet, beyond the Carlisle area, many are still just discovering all that Sadler has to offer.

During National Health Center Week (Aug. 3-9), Sadler is shining a spotlight on its unique “medical mall” model – a full-service, patient-centered medical home with comprehensive, affordable health care services all under one roof.

“People are often surprised by what they find at Sadler,” said Laurel Spagnolo, Director of Development and Community Engagement. “At our Mechanicsburg location, for example, the layout is that of a medical mall with everything all right there in the building – primary medical care, dental, vision, pharmacy, lab, behavioral health, nutrition, insurance support and Express Care services. It’s truly comprehensive care with patients having the flexibility to use the services that meet their needs.”

Sadler’s model is rooted in access, equity and compassion – ensuring quality care is available to all, regardless of insurance status. In 2024, Sadler served more than 12,000 patients and delivered over 46,000 visits.

Celebrating Local Impact

Throughout the week, Sadler will celebrate patients and staff, and connect with the broader community by:

  • Hosting Patient Appreciation Days Monday-Thursday, Aug. 4-7 at multiple Sadler locations;
  • Participating in National Night Out events on Tuesday, Aug. 5 in Boiling Springs, Carlisle and Mechanicsburg; and
  • Holding an Employee Appreciation Day on Friday, Aug. 8 to recognize the dedicated team behind Sadler’s compassionate care.

Part of a National Movement

Sadler is one of more than 1,400 Community Health Centers (CHCs) nationwide working to transform health care from the ground up. Across the country, CHCs serve 32.5 million people including:

  • 1 in 5 uninsured individuals;
  • 1 in 3 people living in poverty;
  • Nearly 10 million children; and
  • More than 400,000 veterans.

Also, CHCs deliver high-quality, cost-effective care while accounting for just 1 percent of national health care spending.
